Overview

Darkmoon Realm is one of the fastest-growing browser games in the market. It features simple and automated gameplay. Within the first couple of hours of playing the game, your character will reach level 60. From there, the world opens up with PvP game modes and many dungeons for your character to raid.

The games were developed by PlusFuns games, developers who are known for other fun browser games like Knights of Fantasy and MonsterEvo. It’s a 2.5D/2D game, so the graphics won’t be the best you can find for video games, but it is really good when compared to other browser games on the market today.

Darkmoon Realm is one of the ultimate idle-like browser games. You can create guilds with friends and other players, develop your partner to accompany you throughout the game, and even play against others in the PvP arena, which you will be able to unlock after level 60. If you enjoy playing games like Infinity Sword and Knight War, you’ll definitely find a lot of fun playing Darkmoon Realm.

Darkmoon Realm is completely free to play but offers microtransactions and optional in-game purchases. To start playing, all you have to do is head over to the website and create an account. Gameplay is fully automated so you will automatically start progressing within the world. So, if you’re looking for a simple and casual game you can leave running in the background on your browser, Darkmoon Realm is the ideal pick for you.

Gameplay

While there is a story in Darkmoon Realm, it admittedly isn’t the most cohesive one in the browser gaming world. The game starts with you battling the embodiment of something called “The Holy Sword”. However, once that is completed, your new goal is to become the greatest warrior in the world. While Darkmoon Realm offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in a world with endless challenges to take on, the story feels somewhat like an afterthought.

When you start playing the game, you’ll be asked to choose between one of three classes; mage, warrior, and priest. Each of these classes poses its own set of pros and cons, and the choice is completely up to you. On this screen, you’ll also be asked to choose your own username. And while you can further customize your character’s costume, gear, and wings later on in the game, that’s about as far as customization goes on Darkmoon Realm. Even the genders are locked in depending on the class you choose.

As we mentioned earlier, the game offers very simple and casual gameplay. Almost everything is automated, at least for the parts of the game where you really have to grind. There are auto-quest and auto-combat features in the game, so you can easily start an adventure on your browser while doing something else on the side. You barely have to do any clicking with Darkmoon Realm, but it should be noted that until you reach the VIP 4 rank, your “special skill”, which is called the Awakening Skill in the game, isn’t automated. So, when battling bosses and tough opponents, make sure to click on the skill whenever the meter gets filled up.

In the game, you’ll be able to recruit heroes to aid you in combat. At the start, you’ll only be given one slot. As you earn more achievements, you’ll be able to unlock another slot, which can take a lot of time. The game features a wide variety of companions who you can add to your team, each with their own set of skills. You can even upgrade the companions based on the type of materials you have in your bag.

There are a lot of different things you can level up in the game, including your Battle Rating. To do this, you have to grind the game and scour the map in hopes of finding items you can use to improve your ratings. This can take a lot of time, and a lot of these things are only unlocked when you hit or are close to hitting the level cap of 80, which can make for a pretty fun gaming experience.

When playing Darkmoon Realm, it’s heavily advised that you constantly try to get better gear and enhance them whenever you can. Different items have different color ratings, with the highest rated items being orange. At the beginning of the game, you can already craft these orange items, which we recommend doing as it can greatly help your character out as you go through the game.

You can easily gain orange items in the game by battling stage bosses and winning special boss fights. At this point, it’s important to mention that this is a “freemium”, pay-to-win game with many optional in-game purchases. There are “gems” which you can buy with real money or earn in the game by finishing certain tasks. These gems allow you to visit certain dungeons for a set amount of times per day, where you can find premium items that can enhance your character even further.

Once you hit level 61, which only takes a couple of hours, you unlock the PvP arena and guild system. The PvP arena can be a whole lot of fun and be a great place to gain experience, while we also recommend joining a guild once the option is available. That way, you have access to many different upgrades for your hero.

And while it is a freemium and pay-to-win game, Darkmoon Realms is also pretty generous to their F2P players. This is especially true when a new server is opened. For example, the games gives you a free VIP 3 ranking if you sign up for their new servers.

Game Modes

The gameplay on Darkmoon Realms is very simple, straightforward, and automated. However, there are a couple of different modes you can play to add a bit of variety when grinding the game.

Solo

This is the game mode you start with and play up until level 61. This involves grinding the different stages, defeating bosses, and levelling up your character. While other game modes only get unlocked after level 61, you can easily reach this level after a couple of hours of playing.

To start playing, you can either sign up on the website, or you can play as a guest for a faster and more convenient sign-up process.

PvP Arena

At level 61, you unlock the PvP arena, which is a standard feature of most browser RPG’s. However, before reaching level 61, you can access the arena mode, which is similar to the PvP arena. Keep in mind that you won’t be battling against other players in arena mode, instead, you battle AI bots.

Dungeons

Aside from the different stages and bosses, you can fight to earn items, you can also explore and visit dungeons for a set amount of times per day. This will cost you gems, the premium currency in the game. It does, however, offer a great place to find premium items to help your character out in battles.

MultiPlayer/Co-op

Once you reach level 61, you will unlock the guild feature. You can then start to team up with guildmates and friends to take on daily challenges. We highly recommend joining a guild once the option is available as it gives you access to a lot of different upgrades and items for your hero.

Final Word

Darkmoon Realm provides a very simple and casual gameplay fit for anyone looking for an idle browser game to play and grind. You progress very fast in the game for the first 60 levels, and since everything is automated, you can even leave it running in the background while doing other tasks.

It offers PvP and co-op game modes, which can offer lots of multiplayer fun. It’s one of the top browser games out there as it captures the essence of a true MMORPG. The game is free to play, but there are some in-game purchases if you’d like to avail from those to speed up your progress.
